Salem Symphonic Winds Information
The Salem Wind Ensemble, later renamed the Salem Symphonic Winds, was founded in 1975. In 1981, the group reformed into Salem Concert Band, an adult community band that does not charge its members but instead provides a platform for local musicians to present high-caliber works by composers from both the conventional and modern canons of band music. The Salem Wind Symphony became the Salem Symphonic Winds in 2018.
Fifty to sixty individuals from the Salem, Oregon, region make up the band. The band's members come from various walks of life and professional pursuits, but their love of great music unites them.
The organization has commissioned several new works, frequently featuring works of contemporary literature in its performances. They also continued our connection to the foundations of band tradition and history by performing an annual "In the Steps of Sousa" program led by Keith Weathers. Its normal season consists of four shows at Salem's Historic Elsinore Theatre. There will be more performances in the Salem region.
