Rosanne Cash Information
Rosanne Cash (May 24, 1955) is an American author and singer-songwriter. She is from Memphis, Tennessee, and the eldest daughter of country musician Johnny Cash and Vivian Liberto Cash Distin (his first wife). Cash’s music is defined as a country, Americana, country pop, and country folk. Her music also draws on many other genres such as folk, pop, rock, and blues. She graduated from St. Bonaventure High School, and after graduating, Cash joined her father's roadshow for two and a half years.
Cash made her studio recording debut on Johnny Cash's 1974 album entitled The Junkie and the Juicehead Minus Me. in 1976, she recorded the Rosanne Cash composition "Love Has Lost Again," which was on his album entitled One Piece At A Time. Cash also worked briefly for CBS Records in London before returning to Nashville to join Vanderbilt University, where she studied English and drama.
The first self-titled debut album by Rosanne Cash was recorded in 1978, but never got released in the United States. Later she signed with Columbia Records and began playing with Crowell's band The Cherry Bombs in California clubs. Right or Wrong was her first LP, which got released in early 1980. Some of the hit singles which followed this album are "No Memories Hangin' Around," "Couldn't Do Nothing Right," and "Take Me, Take Me."
