Ronnie Baker Brooks Information
Ronnie Baker Brooks (January 23, 1967) is an American soul blues and Chicago blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. At the tender age of nine, he made his stage debut, accompanying his dad on guitar. The year 1985 saw him graduate from Hales Franciscan High School. In 1986, he picked up the bass and started playing in his dad's band. A live album by his dad's band, Live from Chicago: Bayou Lightning Strikes, was released by Alligator Records in 1988, and he played guitar on it.
In 1998, Brooks decided to go it alone professionally. Golddigger's first album was published that year on the Watchdog label. Janet Jackson was the one responsible for producing it. In 2000, he was nominated for a Blues Music Award for Best New Artist. In May 2001, he released his second album, Take Me Witcha. The Torch was Brooks's subsequent studio album (2006).
Brooks performed at the 2007 Notodden Blues Festival, the May Memphis Music Festival, and the 2009 Musikfest. He collaborated with Chris Beard on three tracks for Beard's Who I Am and What I Do album, published by Electro Glide Records in August of 2010. Brooks's newest album, Times Have Changed, came out in the first month of 2017. Even though he makes his home in Dolton, Illinois, Brooks is a devoted patron of Artis' Lounge on the South Side of Chicago.
