Ringo Deathstarr Information
Elliott Frazier, a singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas, founded the American shoegaze group Ringo Deathstarr in 2007. The band's name is a mix of Ringo Starr, the drummer for the Beatles, and the Death Star from Star Wars. Frazier founded Ringo Deathstarr in 2007 in Beaumont, Texas, where he was born and raised. After he relocated to Austin, Texas, the band's lineup, which included Frazier, Alex Gehring on bass, Renan McFarland on guitar, and Dustin Gaudet on drums, became stable. Ringo Deathstarr, a five-song EP that the group self-released in the fall of 2007, was made available through SVC Records in the UK and later in 2009, was reissued by Fan Death Records.
A series of 7" singles were released folling the EP, including "You Don't Listen," "In Love" (September 14, 2009; SVC), "Tambourine Girl" released in 2009; UK label Club AC30), and "So High."
The first EP, the two tracks from the "In Love" single, and two additional tracks were included on the compilation album Sparkler, released on November 4, 2009, by the Japanese label Vinyl Junkie Recordings. The band's first full-length album, Colour Trip, was published by Club AC30 on February 14, 2011, in the UK. Following this, Sonic Unyon was granted a license to release the album in North America, while Vinyl Junkie Recordings was granted a license to sell the album in Japan. McFarland and Gaudet had already left, and Daniel Coborn had joined on drums. On November 2, Shadow, a new EP, was released.
