Resistance Revival Chorus Information
Resistance Revival Chorus is more than 60 women and non-binary people who sing together as the Resistance Revival Chorus to bring pleasure and song to the resistance, to elevate and center women's voices, especially the voices of Black women and women of color, and to bring the resistance to life via song. The diverse identities, vocations, artistic backgrounds, and causes represented by the organization's members are reflected in the wide range of individuals who comprise the organization's membership.
The chorus was formed after the 2017 Women's March to put women at the forefront of musical performance and address the long-standing underrepresentation of women in the music business. They have sung Spanish lullabies to detained migrant children, backed Ke$ha at the GRAMMYs, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jim James, and received a Twitter shout-out from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a hero to many New Yorkers. The Resistance Revival Chorus often visits the streets of New York City to advocate for social justice when they are not performing at large venues like Carnegie Hall and the Apollo or festivals like Newport Folk and Outside Lands.
The Resistance Revival Chorus has been involved in various political causes, including reproductive rights, the anti-Muslim ban, climate change, and the March For Our Lives, as well as standing in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives and advocating to defund the police. The RRC provides sound to the protest.
