Reina Del Cid Information
Rachelle Cordova is an American singer and songwriter. She was born in Fargo, North Dakota, professionally known as Reina del Cid. She got an editorial assistant job at the University of Minnesota Press when she finished school there. Hispanic literary figures inspired her stage name. She dubbed her instrument "El Cid" after the Castilian lord of the same name, and she took the Spanish word for "queen," "Reina," as her own.
"blueprints, plans" (credited to "Reina del Cid & the Cidizens") was published in 2012, followed by "The Cooling" in 2015, "Rerun City" in 2017, "Morse Code" in 2019, and "Candy Apple Red" in 2022. Pachyderm Studios is where "The Cooling" and "Rerun City" were recorded. NPR and Baeble Music played tracks from the follow-up album. Paste Magazine featured their follow-up track "Death Cap" and its accompanying music video, shot in Iceland.
As independent musicians, Del Cid and her band have amassed a sizable fan base thanks to their videos on YouTube. Sunday Mornings with Reina del Cid is a video series where she routinely publishes both original songs and cover versions. Morse Code, a new album from del Cid, was announced for release in July 2019. At a concert held at Minneapolis's Cedar Cultural Center on October 4, 2019, it was formally distributed to the public.
