RATT Information
Ratt is an American heavy metal band from Hollywood, California. The band was founded in 1973 by singer Stephen Pearcy along with a few friends. Ratt broke up in 1974, followed by the formation of Crystal Pystal, which later changed its name to Mickey Ratt in 1976. The band name was shortened in 1980, to Ratt. The current lineup of the band includes Stephen Pearcy, Juan Croucier, Jordan Ziff, and Pete Holmes. The music style of Ratt is described as heavy metal, hard rock, and Glam metal.
The first discography by Ratt was a six-track debut EP, released under the label Time Coast Music. This EP is entitled simply as “Ratt.” This EP brought major attention towards the band, and they signed to f Atlantic Records. The first full-length album under this label was Out of the Cellar, released in March 1984. Some of the hit songs included in this album are "Round and Round," "Back for More," "Wanted Man," and "Lack of Communication."
Some of the other notable albums by Ratt are Invasion of Your Privacy (1985), Dancing Undercover (1986), Reach for the Sky (1988), Detonator (1990), Ratt (1999), and Infestation (2010). Ratt enjoyed significant commercial success in the 1980s. Many of its albums were certified as gold, platinum, and multi-platinum by the RIAA. A few of the most hit singles by the band are "Lay It Down," "You're in Love," and "Dance."
Ratt continued to tour and record even with several hiatuses as well as line-up changes.
