Quartet Amabile Information
The 2019 Young Concert Artists (YCA) International Auditions took place on November 17 at New York City's Merkin Music Hall, Kaufman Music Center. They saw four first-prize recipients, including the Japanese string quartet Quartet Amabile. Yuna Shinohara and Chihio Kitada on violins, Meguna Naka on viola, and Tatsuki Sasanuma on cello have been invited to join the YCA roster, where they will have access to management services, performances, promotional opportunities, and professional guidance. Both the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, will host their recital premieres.
During their time at Toho Gakuen School of Music, the members of Quartet Amabile came together. After that, in 2016, they came in third at the ARD International Music Competition Munich (string quartet division). They played at the Beppu Music Festival alongside pianist Martha Argerich the following year. In 2015–2017, they took home first-place awards from the 10th Yokohama International Music Competition, the 12th Romanian International Music Competition, the Kirishima International Music Festival Prize, and the Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi Music Director Prize. They also received the Matsuo Music Subsidy from the Matsuo Academy Promotion Foundation.
