Quantic Information
William Holland (1980) is an English record producer, DJ, and musician known by his pseudonym, Quantic. Among the British singers that contributed vocals on his albums, The 5th Exotic (2001) and Apricot Morning (2002) was soul singer Alice Russell. He put together The Quantic Soul Orchestra in 2003 to create raw funk in the 1960s and 1970s.
Holland relocated to Cali, Colombia, in 2007. He established Sonido del Valle, an analog recording facility, where he produced Tropidélico, the debut album from the Quantic Soul Orchestra, and Flowering Inferno, the self-titled debut from his tropical-dub side project, both of which featured local musicians. The Combo Bárbaro was then put together; "Bárbaro" is slang for "extremely skilled" in Colombia.
"Mi swing es tropical," Holland and Nickodemus's duet, was featured in a 2007 Apple iPod television commercial. The live band project, The Quantic Soul Orchestra, features several artists and Holland. Quantic did the most well-known recording by Holland. The band's lineup varies from album to album. Still, it occasionally includes Lucy Holland, a saxophone member of the Limp Twins, Simon Little, a former Hardkandy member, and Holland's sister. Will Holland does some of the percussion and plays the guitar and bass.
