Purity Ring Information
Purity Ring is a Canadian electronic pop band that originated from Edmonton, Alberta. This group was created in 2010 by the former members of another popular band known by the name Gobble Gobble. The current permanent band members included are multi-instrumentalist and producer Corin Roddick, along with vocalist Megan James. Purity Ring got signed by record company 4AD worldwide while in Canada, by the Last Gang Records.
In April 2012, Purity Ring released it’s very first official single named "Obedear." At the same time, an announcement for their debut album entitled Shrines was made. This album later got released on July 24, 2012, and peaked at number 32 on the Billboard 200 chart. This album was followed by a cover by Soulja Boy named "Grammy" and a remix of Lady Gaga's "Applause."
Some of the other notable released by Purity Ring include; Another Eternity (March 3, 2015), Womb (April 3, 2020), "Obedear" 2012, "Fineshrine," "Push-Pull" 2014, "Begin Again" 2015, "Bodyache," "Asido" 2017, "Stardew" 2020, and the list goes on. Some of the hit promotional singles by Purity Ring are "Ungirthed" (2011), "Belispeak" (2011), "Lofticries" (2012), “Belispeak II" (featuring Danny Brown) (2012), "Grammy" (2013), "Amenamy" (Jon Hopkins Remix) (2013), and "Begin Again (Health Remix)" (2015).
Purity Ring also performed at Fortress Festival on April 30, 2017, and Coachella in Indio, California, in April 2016. The band is popular for its unique combination of hip-hop and pop genres.
