Powerman 5000 Information
Powerman 5000, or PM5K, is an industrial metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, founded in 1991. The group's music is classified as hard rock, alternative metal, electronic rock, industrial rock, and industrial metal. The current lineup consists of Spider One (Michael Cummings) – lead vocals; DJ Rattan (Rattan Cayabyab) – drums, percussion; Murv3 (Murv Douglas) – bass; Ty Oliver – lead guitar; and Taylor Haycraft- rhythm guitar. There are many former members as PM5K underwent several lineup changes.
Powerman 5000 released its first discography as an independent EP titled A Private Little War, limited to only 500 copies. The band released two more independent records in 1994 and 1995, entitled True Force and The Blood-Splat Rating System. The group was honored to perform on the second stage of Ozzfest in 1996 and appeared in the hit TV series Beverly Hills, 90210.
Powerman 5000 signed to DreamWorks Records in 1996 and released a remastered edition of The Blood-Splat Rating System named Mega!! Kung Fu Radio. Some of the other notable studio albums released by the band are Tonight the Stars Revolt!, Anyone for Doomsday?, Transform, Destroy What You Enjoy, Somewhere on the Other Side of Nowhere, Copies, Clones & Replicants, and Builders of the Future.
Powerman 5000 also released many hit singles such as Tokyo Vigilante #1 (1997), Nobody's Real (1999), Ultra Mega (2000), Free (2003), V Is for Vampire (2009), Show Me What You've Got (2010), Cult Leader (2017), and Brave New World (2020). The band has worked with many labels throughout its career, including Megatronic, DreamWorks, Conscience, T-Boy, Cleopatra, Mighty Loud, and DRT.
