Powerhouse Information
Powerhouse is a popular British rock band formed in Newcastle in the '70s. Brian Gibson, Tom Hill, Steve Dawson, and Mark Wright comprise the current membership. The band first got together in 1971 under the moniker Geordie.
Their debut single, "Don't Do That," was a massive hit and reached the top spot on the Singles Chart in the United Kingdom. The band's first studio album was released 1973 under Hope You Like It.
Even though there were already many potential young British rock bands at the time, Powerhouse managed to carve out a name for themselves in the music world. The band scored various hits in the 1970s, including "Can You Do It" and "All Because of You," which were frequently featured on television shows then.
The group gained significant popularity in Australia and was one of the few international acts to play regularly at Lambton's Savoy Theatre.
Before undergoing a band change in 1980, Powerhouse issued two additional albums in the late '70s, No Good Woman and Save the World. No Sweat, from 1983, was their most highly lauded album, especially for its heavy metal aspects.
