Poco Information
Poco is an American country rock band that was founded in 1968 by Richie Furay, Jim Messina, and Rusty Young. The group originated from Los Angeles, California, and its music is defined as folk-rock, country-rock, and soft rock. The current lineup of Poco consists of Rusty Young - pedal steel guitar, guitars, banjo, dobro, vocals; Jack Sundrud - guitar, bass, vocals; Rick Lonow - drums, percussion; and Lex Browning - guitars, fiddle, vocals. A few of the former members include Richie Furay - guitars, vocals, Jim Messina - guitars, bass, vocals; Kim Bullard - keyboards, backing vocals; and a few more.
Poco is known to be part of the first wave of the West Coast country-rock genre. Pickin' Up the Pieces was the debut album by the band that was released in 1969. The album reached number 63 on the Billboard album chart. Poco, a self-titled album, was the second studio album by the group in 1970. It was followed by From the Inside September 5, 1971; A Good Feelin' to Know September 25, 1972; Crazy Eyes September 15, 1973; and Cantamos November 1, 1974.
From 1980 to 1999, Poco released five more albums that are Under the Gun (1980), Blue And Gray (1981), Cowboys & Englishmen (1982), Ghost Town (1982), and Inamorata (1984). Poco received the honor of being inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, and unfortunately, The New York Times Magazine listed the band among those artists and groups whose important material was reportedly destroyed in the 2008 Universal fire, on June 25, 2019.
