Phillip Phillips (September 20, 1990) has an original name, Phillip LaDon Phillips Jr. He is an American songwriter, actor, and singer. He got prominence after winning the eleventh season of “American Idol” on May 23, 2012. Phillips was born in Albany, Georgia. His love for music grew after he started to play music, especially the guitar. His brother-in-law “Benjamin Neil” mentored him for which he always presents Neil with credits for arousing his interest in music.
Phillips, Neil, and another brother-in-law of Phillips “Todd Urick” formed a band together in 2009 called “Phillip Phillips.” They started to perform at different venues and various local events. Phillip won a local singing competition known as “Albany Stars” in 2010. This also helped him a little to pursue his further career in music. He got auditioned for America Got Talent’s second season before he went to American Idol. His coronation song “Home” from the American Idol became the all-time-best selling song.
Phillips released his debut studio album “The World from the Side of the Moon” on November 19, 2012, under the label “Interscope.” His second album, “Behind the Light” was released on May 19, 2014, under the same label. Once again, under the label of “Interscope,” Phillips released his third album of the career “Collateral” on January 19, 2018.
Some of his hit singles include “Gone, Gone, Gone,” “Home,” “Unpack Your Heart,” “Where We Came From,” “Raging Fire,” and “Magnetic.”
Phillips was the winner of the BMI Pop Music Awards in 2014 for the category of “Award-Winning Songs” for his very-own written single “Raging Fire.”
