Perpetual Groove Information
Perpetual Groove, also known as PGroove, is an American jam band. The group originated from Savannah, Georgia, in 1997. The music of the band is described as a rock and jam-band. The current lineup of Perpetual Groove consists of Brock Butler, Adam Perry, Albert Suttle, and Matt McDonald, whereas Joe Stickney, Brett Hinton, and John Hruby are the past members. PGroove is famous for mixing a traditional Southern rock, funk, jazzy improvisation, indie rock, and synth loops, together in one tone. The band members also work on side and solo projects apart from the group.
Brock Butler on guitar and lead vocals, Joe Stickney on drums, Adam Perry on bass, and Brett Hinton on keyboards were the founding members on PGroove. They all met at Savannah College of Art and Design. The group attracted the attention of Jake's Roadhouse in Atlanta and JJ Cagney's on Savannah's Bay Street. The members played a much notable show at J. J. Cagney's (private party). Later, PGroove grew and played larger venues such as Loco's, the [Lucas Theater] (New Year's Eve 2003), the Armstrong Center at Armstrong Atlantic State University, SCAD's [Trustees Theater], and [The Roundhouse Railroad Museum].
A few of the initial discographies by the band are Perpetual Groove (1999), All This Everything (2004), LIVELOVEDIE (2007), Heal (2009), Honey Cuts (2010) – EP, Paper Dolls (October 8, 2015) – Single, Familiar Stare (August 15, 2016), and a few more. PGroove announced on January 13, 2013, on pgroove.com that the group would be taking a hiatus. The band reunited on February 10, 2015. Amberland is the group’s own gathering every Memorial Day weekend that is hosted by Perpetual Groove.
