Pecos and the Rooftops are a country-rock band hailing from Lubbock, Texas. A subtle, chugging midtempo sound with an earthy, rustic edge characterizes their music's tone. The band signed with Warner Bros. in early 2023 after their slow-grooved song "This Damn Song" became an unexpected streaming smash, which piqued the curiosity of record labels. June of that year marked the release of their debut full-length album.
Even though they were approached by labels early on, they decided to be independent, and in 2020, they released an EP called Red Eye. Although the band's rock side was on full display on songs like "Hurt No More" (released in 2022) and "Last Night's Lashes" (2021), their Texas country origins were still obvious.
Similarly, the combination of outlaw and grungy alt-rock styles was well-suited to Hurley's deep, rumbling baritone. They were ready to take it to the next level by January 2023, when they inked a deal with Warner Bros. to record their debut album. In June, the self-titled album Pecos & the Rooftops debuted with the gloomy country-rockers "This Damn Song" and a slew of similar songs.
