Paul Thorn Information
Paul Wayne Thorn is an American singer-songwriter, which follows the Southern rock, country, Americana, and blues music genres. Thorn was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and raised in Tupelo, Mississippi. Before beginning his career as a professional musician, Thorn was a professional boxer who established a respectable 10–3–1 record and won the Mid-South Middleweight Championship in Memphis, Tennessee.
Thorn performed at a singer-songwriter night at a local pizza shop (Vanelli's) in 1997. Hammer & Nail was the first album by Thorn that came out in 1997. The album was released via A&M Records. The first album was followed by thirteen more; these were self-released and self-produced along with his writing and production partner, Billy Maddox.
Some of his other notable albums are Ain't Love Strange July 27, 1999; Live at Short Street Package Store 2000; Mission Temple Fireworks Stand August 13, 2002; Are You With Me? 2004, So Far So Good: Best of the Paul Thorn Band Live 2005, A Long Way from Tupelo February 19, 2008; and What the Hell Is Goin' On? May 8, 2012. Pimps and Preachers is Thorn's 2010 album that debuted on number 83 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Thorn has toured opening for many artists such as Marianne Faithfull, Mark Knopfler, Robert Cray, Huey Lewis & the News, Sting, John Prine, Bonnie Raitt, Toby Keith, and Jeff Beck, Jerry Jeff Walker.
