Paul Piche Information
Paul Piche (September 5, 1953) is a Canadian singer, environmentalist, political activist, songwriter, and Quebec sovereigntist. He was born in La Minerve, Quebec. He attended the Universite de Montreal and studied archaeology. Piche used to sing in Quebec colleges in the early 1970s. Robert Leger, the keyboardist of Beau Dommage, encouraged Piche to record his first LP in 1977, entitled “A qui appartient le beau temps.” He sold more than 100,000 copies of his debut LP. Piche is known for mostly composing his music on acoustic guitar, but he recently had electronic sound input in one of his works.
Paul Piche released his second album entitled “L’escalier” in 1980, inspired by his trip down the staircase in Rene Levesque Boulevard. He also began working with the keyboardist Michael Hinton. Piche performed with Rivard in 1986 and released a double album entitled “Integral.” It was a collection of all his works. After the release, he traveled throughout Quebec, where he performed at Millenaire in Brussels, Nyon, Switzerland, and La Rochelle.
In 1984, one of Piche’s singles, “Tous Les vents,” reached the second number on the Radio-activite chart in August. His album, Nouvelles d’Europe, won the Felix Award for the best rock album in 1985. His next album, Sur le Chemin des incendies, was released in 1988 and sold more than 100,000 copies. Many pieces inside this amazing album were written in collaboration with the guitarist Rick Haworth. In 2009, Paul Piche released another studio album entitled “Sur ce côté de la Terre.”
