Paul Overstreet Information
Paul Lester Overstreet (March 17, 1955) is an American country music singer and songwriter born in Vancleave, Mississippi. Overstreet has recorded numerous hit albums throughout his career and several singles that have made it on the Billboard country charts. He has also written songs for many country acts, including number one hits for Keith Whitley, Blake Shelton, and Randy Travis.
Before he started his solo career, Overstreet was a part of a trio named S-K-O in which he recorded one studio album and then departed. Since then, he has written more than 27 Top Ten songs in his songwriting career. He also won ACM and CMA Song of the Year Awards and two Grammy Awards. Overstreet has been named the BMI Songwriter of the Year for five years (1987-1991).
Some of his notable co-written singles are “Forever and Ever, Amen,” “Love Can Build a Bridge,” and “A Long Line of Love.” A few of his recent well-known hits are “Some Beach” by Blake Shelton and “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” by Kenny Chesney.
Overstreet signed as a singer for the first time in 1982, releasing a debut single entitled “Beautiful Baby” that peaked at number 76 on the country charts. Later, he signed a record deal with RCA Nashville in 1988. Overstreet has released several albums to date, such as Something For the Road (2008), Forever and Ever Amen (2005), Christmas: My Favorite Time of the Year (2001), Living by the Book (2001), Time (1996), and The Best of Paul Overstreet (1994).
