“Outlaw” Jim Eaton is an American songwriter, singer, and musician from Missouri. He was born on an unfortunate day when notorious Missouri outlaw Jesse James was shot and killed in St. Joseph. For Eaton, it was more than just coincidence. From an early age, he knew music was his passion. He developed some deep interest in music when he picked up his father’s old Harmony archtop guitar for the first time.
Eaton was born and raised in a combination of cultures. From living in Colorado, New Orleans, to Nashville, he created a “Screamin’ Soulful Funky Outlaw Country” sound. This unique sound seems responsible for making Outlaw Jim and The Whiskey Benders come alive every night on stage.
The band is known for thriving on the energy of a rowdy crowd and strengthening their connection with old outlaws and honky-tonks in their tracks. Eaton is popular for writing most of his band’s songs with his childhood friend Nate Rule’s help. The pair find inspiration in the least expected places, most often in their sleep. Many ideas also come from Eaton’s crazy on-stage experiences. As the Outlaw Jim and The Whiskey Benders band leader, Eaton considers the group members part of his family.
