Oliver Anthony Information
Christopher Anthony Lunsford (1991/1992) is an American country folk singer-songwriter. He is known by his stage name, Oliver Anthony. He is also famous for releasing all his work under Oliver Anthony Music. Lunsford chose the stage "Oliver Anthony" to honor his grandfather's life through the Great Depression.
In 2021, Anthony began composing music. Winston Marshall likened Anthony's performance on his song "Doggonit"—which contrasts eating insect protein and driving self-driving cars with Anthony's rural home—to that of a character from Hillbilly Elegy. Hank Williams has had a massive impact on his music.
On August 13, Anthony gave a free performance at a Barco, North Carolina farmers market. He began the performance by reading passages from Psalm 37 that discuss evildoers. In the same month, five other Anthony songs made the top 10 on iTunes, with "I've Got to Get Sober" reaching number six on the Apple platform.
In Moyock, North Carolina, Anthony's second known public performance began in what Billboard called "a unique fashion." He recited a passage from the Bible during the performance. Anthony uploaded a brand-new music video for "I Want to Go Home" on YouTube on August 22. Over a million views were recorded in a single day.
Anthony is the first male songwriter to chart 13 songs simultaneously in the top 50 Digital Song Sales while still living. He is also the first songwriter to enter the top of the Billboard Hot 100 without any prior chart history.
