NieR Information
NieR is an action-adventure video game directed by Yoko Taro. In North America and Europe, it is written as NIER. It marks Square Enix's and Cavia's (the developers) debut in the NieR series.
The two versions made available in Japan were NieR Gestalt for the Xbox 360 and NieR Replicant for the PlayStation 3. The only differences between the two games are the setting, the concept, and the year they take place; the only similarities are Nier's looks and his connection with Yonah.
Originally published in Japan under the name NieR Gestalt—shortened to NieR—for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3—the North American and European versions are identical to this. Japan got the game first on April 22, 2010, Europe on April 23, and North America on April 27 of the same year.
One of Taro's other creations, Drakengard, is continued in NieR, more precisely in its fifth ending. Indirectly continuing the story, NieR: Automata debuted in Japan in February 2017 and in March 2017 elsewhere. The global premiere of NieR Replicant, an updated game version, took place on April 23, 2021.
