New Candys Information
New Candys is an Italian alternative rock band. The current group lineup comprises Francesco Giacomin, Marco Contestabile, Emanuele Zanardo, Dario Lucchesi, and Fernando Nuti. 2008 saw the inception of the band. On July 7, 2010, the band released their first self-produced EP two years later. Before that, they had been performing live throughout the Venice area. The press in Italy was very receptive, so they started playing gigs all around Northern Italy.
Stars Reach The Abyss, their debut studio album, was released on March 23, 2012, via Foolica (and reissued by Fuzz Club in 2017). Pierluigi Ballarin and Stefano Moretti produced the record, and Jon Astley handled the mastering. On March 16, 2015, Picture In My Ear and Fuzz Club released their second studio album, New Candys As Medicine, in the United States and Europe, respectively. A 10" split single with Kill Your Boyfriend, including the songs "Dark Love" and "Surf 2," was released in advance of the album.
Bleeding Magenta, the third studio album by New Candys, was originally released by Fuzz Club on October 8, 2017, and reissued in the United States the following month by Little Cloud Records. The album, recorded by Andrea Volpato and produced by the band, was well-received by the press, including the music websites Clash and Drowned in Sound. Three episodes of the Showtime Network's original series Shameless utilized two songs from the album and one from a previous record.
