Nathan Gray Information
Nathan Gray (June 15, 1972) is an American punk musician. Gray stayed with his parents in Newark up until he turned 13. His parents worked, his mom at a café, and his dad in a factory. When he was 13 years old, his family relocated to Pensacola, Florida, so his father could attend seminary. As the family's intentions in Florida fell through, the group relocated to Maryland when Gray became 19 years old. In an interview, Gray admitted that his views on rock music were shaped by the teachings of churchgoers he met in Florida.
Gray established the Newark, Delaware, melodic hardcore/post-hardcore band Boysetsfire in 1994. The band initially struggled to acquire a record deal and relied on recorded recordings. After releasing a slew of low-budget EPs, the band finally found success with their debut European tour and the CD After the Eulogy. When the band's album Tomorrow Come Today was published in 2003 on Wind-Up Records, they finally broke through.
And in 2011, he started the metalcore band I Am Heresy, where his son Simon also played guitar. Over the band's four-year run, he and the members issued an EP (O Day Star, Son of Dawn) and two full-length albums (I Am Heresy and Thy Will) under the same name. Gray wanted to focus on his solo work and Boysetsfire, which has been performing again since 2013. Hence the band disbanded. On August 7, 2015, he unveiled his first EP, Nthn Gry.
