Mya Information
Mya (October 10, 1979) is an American actress, singer, dancer, and songwriter. She was born in Washington, D.C. She was trained in ballet, jazz, and tap dancing as a child. She was born into a musical household. Má started her career on BET's Teen Summit as a VJ and dance squad participant. She became interested in music during her time at BET, which led to an independent deal under the direction of CEO Haqq Islam.
She was signed to Interscope Records in 1996, and in April 1998, her self-titled debut album was made available. The album, which was both critically and commercially successful, gave her first top ten songs, "It's All About Me." Her popularity increased after the release of the singles "Ghetto Supastar" and "Take Me There," the first of which earned her a Grammy nomination. Her second album, Fear of Flying, was released in April 2000 and quickly became a global hit because of the success of its lead singles, "Case of the Ex" and "Free."
With Pink, Christina Aguilera, and Lil' Kim, Harrison continued to gain notoriety in 2002 when she won her first Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in the smash song "Lady Marmalade," which topped the charts all over the world. Harrison's third studio album, the odd Moodring, was released in July 2003 as she became more involved in the music's creation. The album earned a gold certification from the RIAA and yielded the hit single "My Love Is Like...Wo."
