MSTRKRFT Information
Mstrkrft is an electronic music duo from Toronto. The group's current lineup consists of Alex Puodziukas, a.k.a AI-P of Mississauga, Ontario electropop group Girlsareshort and Jesse F. Keeler of Death from Above. The duo was formed in 2005.
The Kills, Annie, Wolfmother, Metric, Ayumi Hamasaki, Bloc Party, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, Justice, and Death From Above 1979 have all commissioned Mstrkrft to remix their tracks.
"Easy Love," their first single, was released in 2006 on Last Gang Records. On July 6, they released their second song, "Work On You." Unlike the music video for "Easy Love," "Work On You" included animated robots akin to those seen in vintage cartoons. Although The Looks is Mstrkrft's debut album with original material, the band has remixed songs by many musicians, including Buck 65, The Kills, and Death from Above 1979.
The Looks, Mstrkrft's debut album, was released on July 18, 2006, in the United States and February 2, 2007, in the United Kingdom. Weeks before the publication of The Looks, Keeler and Al-P informed Eye Weekly that the planning phases for a follow-up album had already begun as the album was being finished. The single version of their song "Street Justice" from 2007 was also released. On the band's website message board, Keeler revealed that they were also working on a compilation CD of their remixed tracks.
