Morat Information
Morat is a band from Bogotá, the Colombian capital. Juan Pablo Isaza (guitars) and Juan Pablo Villamil (banjo) provide lead vocals, while brothers Simón Vargas (bass) and Martin Vargas (percussion) round out the group. Alejandro Posada, the band's drummer, had been a member up to the debut year's conclusion. Unfortunately, the percussionist had to quit the project, and Martin Vargas was brought in to take his place.
The first significant break for Morat came when Paulina Rubio expressed interest in their song "Mi Nuevo Vicio" and asked if they could record it as a single. To widespread acclaim, a duet between Paulina Rubio and Morat, "Mi Nuevo Vicio," was published in 2015.
Morat and Aitana released a joint single titled "Presiento" in April 2019. More than 600,000 people listened to this song on the first day it was available on Spotify. After that period, "Presiento" has more than 230,000 streams in Spain, making it the most successful debut of 2019, surpassing "Con Altura" by Rosala and J Balvin.
On May 10, 2019, Balas perdidas (Edición especial) was re-released along with three more tracks, and "Presiento" was one of them. They dropped their new single featuring Danna Paola on June 3, 2021. Released on July 15, 2021, "A dónde vamos" was Morat's third full-length album. The song "Simplemente Pasan" was released alongside Cami on the same day.
Morat's fourth studio album, Si ayer fuera hoy, was released on November 4, 2022.
