Milky Chance Information
Milky Chance is a German folk group consisting of Clemens Rehbein (lead guitarist and vocalist), Philipp Dausch (percussionist and bassist), and guitarist Antonio Greger. The band was formed in 2012 in Kassel, Germany. Rehbein wrote several songs at home, and then uploaded the songs to YouTube.
Milky Chance’s first single "Stolen Dance" was first uploaded to YouTube on April 4, 2013. The video went viral and received millions of views within a few days. It peaked at no. 1 on the charts in several countries, including Belgium (Wallonia), Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, and France. The song won an award for Best Single in the 1Live Krone radio awards.
The first debut studio album of milky Chance was released on October 1, 2013, entitled, Sadnecessary. Two of its famous singles are Down by the River and Stolen Dance. The album charted at no.17 on the Billboard 200 chart, peaked no.14 in Germany and won an award for Best Single (Stolen Dance) in the 2013 1Live Krone radio awards. The album got nominated for IMPALA European Independent Album of the Year. Blossom (2017) and Mind the Moon (2019) are the group’s other popular albums.
The first big show of Milky Chance was at a big festival called Dockville in Hamburg, with more than 5,000 audiences. They also performed at the Reeperbahn Festival held in Hamburg. On October 22, 2014, the band made their TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! That same year, they performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. They performed more than 200 shows and visited more than 31 countries in the 2015-2016 tour.
In 2017, Milky Chance embarked on another worldwide tour in which they performed more than 161 shows & visited 26 countries. During this tour, they also performed at the Lollapalooza Chicago & Paris, Groovin' The Moo Festival in Australia, Osheaga Festival, Austin City Limits Music Festival, and the Conan O'Brien's late-night show. Last year, in 2018, the band won for Best National Pop Group award at Echo Awards Germany.
