Mickey Avalon Information
Mickey Avalon (December 3, 1975) is an American rapper. Avalon is a member of the CBS (Can't Be Stopped / City Bomb Squad) graffiti gang headquartered in Los Angeles. Most of Avalon's work has themes of heavy drug usage, notably his use of heroin and crack cocaine, which is an unusual approach in hip hop, where the artist usually refers to the sale of such narcotics. Seduction and sexual interactions with women are prominent in Avalon's music. This is combined with his highly sexualized persona, including wearing no shirt and heavy eye makeup.
When he moved to Los Angeles, he met Simon Rex, an ex-MTV VJ who encouraged him to rap and cooperated with him. The two began distributing samples to Hollywood clubs and quickly gained a following among Santa Cruz nightclub goers. When Avalon first entered the rap world in 2000, he went under the stage moniker "The Relevant" and made his debut on Met Fly's album "Wiggin' Out." On the song "No Class," Avalon first collaborated with Existereo of the Shape Shifters in 2004.
Avalon released his self-titled debut solo album in November 2006. The singles "Jane Fonda" and "Mr. Right" were released by Interscope/Shoot to Kill Records in collaboration with MySpace Records. Avalon contributed lyrics and vocals to Unwritten Law's "Shoulda Known Better" in January 2007.
