Michael J Fox Information
Michael J. Fox (June 9, 1961) is a Canadian-American retired actor born in Edmonton, Alberta. Starting in the 1970s, he became well-known for his role as Alex P. Keaton on the NBC sitcom Family Ties (1982–1989). Fox gained fame for his portrayal of Marty McFly in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Back to the Future film trilogy (1985-1990). Teen Wolf, The Secret of My Success, Doc Hollywood, Casualties of War, and The Frighteners were just a few of the films he starred in throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
From 1996 through 2000, Fox starred as Mike Flaherty on the ABC sitcom Spin City. Fox announced he had Parkinson's disease in 1998 after being diagnosed in 1991. As a result, he began campaigning for a cure and, in 2000, established the Michael J. Fox Foundation to support such efforts. Fox had to cut back on his activities and make a comeback to television in Spin City while he was still a major movie star since his symptoms were worsening.
He kept popping up on TV, most notably in recurring roles on the critically acclaimed comedy-drama Rescue Me (FX, 2009) and the legal drama The Good Wife (CBS, 2010-2016). Stuart Little (1999–2005) and Atlantis: The Lost Empire (1992) were two animated features in which he starred as the principal voice actor (2001). The Michael J. Fox Show on NBC was his final significant television role (2013–2014). Fox left his post in 2020 because of his health problems.
