Michael Grimm Information
Michael Grimm (December 30, 1978) is an American singer and songwriter. He was born in Fort Carson, Colorado. On June 1, 2010, the fifth season of America's Got Talent premiered, and Grimm was one of the many hopefuls who tried out in Los Angeles. His performance impressed all three judges, who sent him on to Vegas Week. Piers Morgan said that his "Try a Little Tenderness" performance during Vegas week was too long and could have led to his disqualification because it went on for much longer than the required 90 seconds. He was still able to progress to the next round.
His "Tired of Being Alone" performance in the quarterfinals earned him further plaudits and a spot in the semis. Sharon Osbourne had before mentioned that her husband, Ozzy, was a fan of Grimm. After recovering from a dehydration-related sickness, Grimm sang "You Can Leave Your Hat On" in the semifinals. He performed sick, but the judges were so impressed that they sent him straight to the finals.
As a result of his guitar-less rendition of "Let's Stay Together" in the Top 10, he was promoted to the Final Four. On the final show on September 14, 2010, he sang "When a Man Loves a Woman," directing every glance in the audience at his love Lucie. Grimm was announced the winner the following day, besting young vocalist Jackie Evancho. Grimm was eliminated in the preliminary round of 2020's America's Got Talent: The Champions.
