Mesquite Championship Rodeo Information
The Mesquite Championship Rodeo is a rodeo in Mesquite, Texas, in the United States during rodeo season. The Mesquite Championship Rodeo, commonly known as the Mesquite ProRodeo or just the Mesquite Rodeo, is held in Mesquite, Texas. The first Mesquite Rodeo, created by Charlie Columbus McNally, was a permanent site that did not migrate from town to town. The event was placed at the Charlie McNally’s Arena on Hickory Tree Road.
From 1981 to 1986, the Mesquite Championship Rodeo was shown on ESPN, and then from 1986 to 1999, it was broadcast on TNN. Finally, in the 2000s, Fox Sports Networks broadcasted it. It is next to the NHSRA 20X Rodeo High broadcast on RFD-TV, the most televised rodeo globally, reaching over 8.3 million households. The Mesquite Championship Rodeo would be aired for the last time during the Fox Sports Networks era.
The Mesquite Arena, a new site for the Mesquite Rodeo near Interstate 635 and Scyene Road, was officially opened in 1985. The convention center, exhibition hall, and Hampton Inn & Suites were all added to the complex by 1998. Tom Hicks, the owner of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars, bought Mesquite Championship Rodeo in 1999.
Camelot Sports & Entertainment was founded in 2009 by a group of businessmen that bought the Mesquite Championship Rodeo from Hicks for an unknown price. The season’s attendance had risen to 200,000 by 2001. Stace Smith Pro Rodeo purchased Mesquite Championship Rodeo in 2015.
