Maysa Leak (August 17, 1966) is an American jazz singer. She is professionally known by her stage name, Maysa. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland. After finishing high school, she attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, for her undergraduate degree in classical performance.
There, she sang with the legendary Morgan State University Choir, led by the late Nathan Carter. Leak first saw Stevie Wonder perform in college.
Maysa moved to Southern California after graduating from Morgan State University to join Stevie Wonder's female backup group Wonderlove. Maysa was a member of Wonder and appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show, Oprah, and The Tonight Show, among many others, during her time with the band.
Maysa joined the British jazz/funk/R&B band Incognito after an over-the-phone audition in the early 1990s; in 1992, she moved to London and recorded Tribes, Vibes & Scribes, which included the smash hit "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing." Maysa has since made an appearance on over seven more Incognito albums.
Maysa released her first album, named simply Maysa, in 1995. She followed that up with All My Life, Out of the Blue, Smooth Sailing, Sweet Classic Soul, and Feel the Fire.
