Max Cooper (May 19, 1980) is an Irish techno and electronica producer. He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Cooper began playing the violin at 12 despite having no professional music training. He finally stopped. His scientific background influenced Cooper's music, and he opted to focus solely on music creation in 2010. Cooper has named Jon Hopkins, Sigur Rós, and Lafur Arnalds as musical influences, adding that his influences are "primarily electronica rather than techno." In 2012, he was named to Resident Advisor's top 20 live acts of the year for the second year in a row.
On December 10, 2012, Cooper released Conditions One, a two-part EP that included Braids, Ghosting Season, and D/R/U/G/S. In the same month, he was named a "top 20" live act by the readers of the canonical electronic music website Resident Advisor, and he was ranked fifth on BeatPort's "Top Artists of 2012." Cooper encourages fans to make their music videos, which are then posted on his website. Cédric de Smedt animated a music video for his song "Pleasures," which he released.
Cooper stated in December 2013 that his debut album, Human, would be released on March 10, 2014. The song "Adrift," released on December 16, 2013, preceded the album.
