Markus Schulz (February 3, 1975) is a German-American music producer and DJ from Eschwege, Germany. He is also known as Dakota, New World Punx, and his music is defined as dance and trance. Currently based in Miami, Florida, Schulz is best known for “Global DJ Broadcast,” his weekly radio show that airs on After Hours FM, Digitally Imported radio, and other online stations. Schulz is also the founder of Schulz Music Group (SMG) and Coldharbour Recordings label. The first being an artist management company that is known for managing the industry’s rising stars.
Schulz earned the title of America’s Number 1 DJ by DJ Times in September 2012. The next year, he announced, along with Ferry Corsten, that the two would be touring and producing together under the new EDM group named New World Punx. Madison Square Garden hosted their debut arena show. Schulz has released seven artist albums and 15 mix compilations under his name. Some of the other productions and albums released by him are Thoughts Become Things II, Thoughts Become Things, and The Nine Skies.
Schulz has worked with many notable artists so far, such as Jewel, OceanLab, Gabriel & Dresden, Depeche Mode, Madonna, Everything but the Girl, Télépopmusik, and Fatboy Slim. His notable discographies include Without You Near (2005), Do You Dream? (2010), Watch the World (2016), We Are the Light (2018), Escape (2020), and a few more.
