Olive Marie Osmond is a singer, author, talk show host, philanthropist, actress, and member of the show “The Osmonds.” She was born in Ogden, Utah, and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during her childhood. Her brothers were running their careers in show business, performing and singing on television. Osmond made her debut as part of her brother’s act on The Andy Williams Show. She was just four years old at that time.
Osmond started her music career by releasing her first single in 1973 as a solo artist entitled “Paper Roses.” The single reached number 1 as a country hit, peaking at Top 5 on the Billboard magazine pop chart, achieving crossover success with this release. The single earned a gold record for Osmond. She released an album of the same name later, which was a hit as well. Her next single was “In My Little Corner of the World.” Again, she released the album of the same name in 1974. The single and album both entered the Billboard country Top 40 in 1974.
Osmond released her fourth studio album entitled “This Is the Way That I Feel” in 1977. The album was different from her previous one as a country artist. Other notable studio albums by Osmond include There’s No Stopping Your Heart (1985), I Only Wanted You (1986), All in Love (1988), Steppin’ Stone (1989), I Can Do This (2010), and Music Is Medicine (2016). In 1986, Osmond won the Country Music Association Awards for the “Vocal Duo of the Year.”
