Manic Focus is an American electronic music concept by John “JmaC” McCarten, who is a Denver based American producer. His music has roots in new-era hip hop, funk, and soul. McCarten is a multi-dimensional artist with a rowdy style. He was initially hailed from the Twin Cities. He began learning the piano at an early age. Manic Focus’s musical influences are MF Doom, Brother Ali, and Atmosphere.
While McCarten was studying in high school, he would spend a maximum of his time in the home’s basement, teaching himself the Ableton software and trying to replicate the hip-hop rhythms. McCarten took rhythms that he had listened to while growing up. He used to make beats for his friends just for the sake of fun. Soon McCarten realized that his music is inspiring people around, and they started appreciating his taste. At this point, he began creating his music full time.
McCarten has released six full-length albums over the last six years of his music career. Every record is found with a new evolution. He is still building his fan base very rapidly around the world. Manic Focus’s debut studio album was Expanding Mind (2012). His other notable studio albums include Distant Perspective (2013), Cerebral Eclipse (2014), Big Beat Ignition: Denver (2017), Minds Rising (2017), and Lost in a Digital World (2019).
