Lynne Jordan is a rare gem among the city's many other blues and jazz diva legends. Her cheeky charm and soaring voice make her an audience favorite. She is equally at home singing blues, jazz, funk, rock, and country. Chicago's late film critic Roger Ebert was so impressed by her that he called her "favorite diva."
With the help of her hot band, The Shivers, Jordan became a fixture in Chicago's music scene, touring the country's jazz and blues clubs, posh lounges, and charity events. Her play, "A Musical Tribute To Nina Simone," was a huge success in New York, Washington, DC, and Atlanta, thanks to her unique blend of storytelling, humor, and performance.
She has appeared alongside Taj Mahal, Etta James, and Koko Taylor on Blues Down Deep: A Tribute to Janis Joplin, as well as on her CDs Bit o Fun and Holiday Shivers, and has recorded with Tom Waits, the punk band Urge Overkill, and Alligator Records blues singer Toronzo Cannon. Jordan is a featured vocalist with Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues and has sung in Jazz Operas in Europe and her one-woman show.
Jordan and her band, the Shivers, have played worldwide, including a transformative show in Freedom Square in Kyiv, Ukraine. In cities like Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Moscow, Rio, Riga, and Paris, Jordan has given several live light (storytelling) performances of her works.
