Lurrie Bell (December 13, 1958) is an American blues singer and guitarist born in Chicago, Illinois. Bell picked up the guitar at age six and honed his skills during his teenage years while performing alongside Chicago blues greats such as Eddy Clearwater, Big Walter Horton, and Eddie Taylor.
Later, in the middle of the 1970s, he joined Koko Taylor's Blues Machine and spent the next four years on the road with them. In 1977, he debuted in the music industry with guest appearances on Heartaches and Pain, his father's album, and King of the Jungle, Eddie C. Campbell's. The Sons of Blues, which included Billy Branch on harmonica, was formed around this period. In 1978, Alligator Records published Living Chicago Blues Vol. 3, which featured three of the band's tracks. His debut album as a solo artist, Everybody Wants To Win, was released by JSP Records in 1989.
Even though Bell's career seemed to be on the up and up, with him attracting the attention of blues enthusiasts throughout the world as a young prodigy of the blues, he struggled for many years with emotional difficulties and drug misuse, which prevented him from performing regularly. In 1995, with the release of Mercurial Son, his first of several albums for the Delmark label, he launched a successful return.
