Louis the Child is an electronic music group comprising Frederic J. Kennett and Robby Hauldren. In 2013 and 2014, Louis the Child began performing at intimate venues. The band gained a larger fan base after the release of "It's Strange" in 2015. At the time, Freddy Kennet was a senior in high school and was 17 years old.
Robby Hauldren had just enrolled as an incoming freshman at the University of Southern California. Swift herself included the song in her list of "Songs that Will Make Life Awesome" after hearing the single and praising it.
In 2017, the pair played a sold-out Thanksgiving event at the Aragon Ballroom as part of a 32-show tour that also featured Joey Purp, Lauv, Louis Futon, Prince Fox, Ashe, Party Pupils, Point Point, and Win & Woo as support acts. Towards the end of 2017, "Go" by Louis the Child was used in an Apple iPad Pro advertisement.
They performed at Lollapalooza South America in early 2018. Chile, Argentina, and Brazil hosted the festival. Including Australian singer Wafia, the pair announced the release of their new single "Better Not" on April 10, 2018. The song has been streamed over 100 million times on Spotify since April 2019. Both members of Louis the Child have stated that they landed on the historical figure while clicking the "Random Article" option on Wikipedia in search of band names.
