Los Angeles Jewish Symphony Information
There is a non-profit orchestra in Los Angeles called the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony (LAJS) that plays music from the Jewish canon. The orchestra was established in 1994, and Dr. Noreen Green serves as its Artistic Director and Conductor. Tovah Feldshuh, Roslyn Kind, Emily Bear, David Benoit, Hila Plitmann, and countless others have all shared the stage with the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony since its inception in 1994.
The Boston Court Performing Arts Center, Orpheum Theatre, Saban Theatre, Royce Hall at UCLA, Gindi Auditorium at American Jewish University, and Valley Performing Arts Center at CSUN are some venues the symphony has played at around Southern California.
For several years beginning in 2004, the LAJS was a featured performer on the Ford Summer Partnership music series at the Ford Amphitheatre. Concerts included "Hershey Felder in Concert," "Let's Play LA," and "L'Chayim! (To Life!)," to name a few of the many issues and themes covered. The orchestra launched the education outreach program "A Patchwork of Cultures: Exploring the Sephardic-Latino Connection" in 2004.
