Lorde became a global star in 2013 when her song "Royals" hit number one on the charts. She was just 16 years old at the time. Her full name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, but fans know her as Lorde. Her first album, "Pure Heroine," came out that same year and had a cool, moody sound that felt very different from other pop music. Her voice was deep and unique, and her songs were smart and honest.
