Lonestar Information
Lonestar is an American country music group that began operating in 1992. The group consists of Richie McDonald (acoustic guitar, lead vocals), Keech Rainwater (drums), Michael Britt (background vocals, lead guitar), and Dean Sams (background vocals, acoustic guitar, keyboard). Britt and Rainwater were the former members of the group named Canyon, before the foundation of Lonestar. Lonestar played its first-ever concert in 1993 in Nashville. In 1995, the band signed a record deal with BNA Records.
Lonestar released its first project under BNA Records in January 1995, which was an extended play entitled “Lonestar Live.” The EP was recorded at Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville. In August 1995, the band released its debut single “Tequila Talkin.” The single peaked at number 8 on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. The single was also included on the band’s self-titled album, released in October of the same year. Producers for the album were songwriter Wally Wilson and Don Cook.
Lonestar released it’s another single “No News” that became their first single to hold the top position in April 1996 for around three weeks. The band has won the Academy of Country Music award in the category of Best Vocal Group in 1996. “Come Cryin’ to Me” was the band’s other successful single that became their second number 1 single in August 1997.
Lonestar has released several albums so far including Crazy Nights (1997), Lonely Grill (1999), This Christmas Time (2000), I’m Already There (2001), From There to Here: Greatest Hits (2003), Let’s Be Us Again (2004), Coming Home (2005), Mountains (2006), Party Heard Around the World (2010), Life as We Know It (2013), and Never Enders (2016).
