Liquid Stranger Information
Martin Johan Stääf (November 13, 1978), better known by his stage name Liquid Stranger, was born in Sweden. He has been called "the definition of International Bass covering anything from the language of Latin, Asian, Eastern European, and Jamaican Dancehall dubs" by the music blog Generation Bass.
Martin Stääf is well-known as a composer who takes risks by fusing different musical styles. Chillbase's Martin Woods calls Liquid Stranger's sound a "unique blend of Ambience, Big Band Jazz, Dubstep, and Psychedelic drizzled over electronic Dub Reggae grooves."
Interchill Records released The Invisible Conquest, Liquid Stranger's debut full-length, in 2007. Heavy on the bass, this album also has melodic bass lines, rhythmic rhythms, tribal accents, and light psychedelic touches here and there.
In 2009, Interchill Records released Liquid Stranger's second full-length album. Liquid Stranger made a decisive shift toward rhythms with more Dubstep and reggae influences on this record. Brother Culture, Danman, Deeyah, and Warrior Queen are some of the album's featured vocalists.
On March 15, 2010, Rottun Recordings released Liquid Stranger's third studio album. This album has ten very intense and gloomy tracks in the Dubstep genre. Music and Happy Life called them "totally devastating dance-floor monsters." The album was well-received by electronic music fans, and its single "Ripple" topped Beatport's top download rankings for many weeks.
