Kimberly Denise Jones (July 11, 1974) is an American singer and rapper. She is professionally known by her stage name, Lil' Kim. March 2001 saw the double platinum certification for Lil' Kim's 1996 debut studio album Hard Core. It has been a smashing success since its release, with over six million copies sold globally and three hit singles: "No Time," "Not Tonight (Ladies Night)," and "Crush on You." The US debut of Hard Core was the highest for a female rap album then.
Missy Elliott and Paris Hilton will work with Kim on the sequel to 9 that she announced in October 2019. The City Girls will be a part of the sequel to 9, as Kim confirmed in an interview with New York Radio 103.9. In addition, she expressed her desire (or "love") to have Pretty Vee serve as her tour host. During her interview on The Real on November 8, 2019, Kim confirmed that 9's sequel would feature Paris Hilton and Missy Elliott.
Lil' Kim listed MC Lyte, Salt-N-Pepa, and Roxanne Shanté as her favorite rap artists. Other artists who had an impact on her include Eric B. & Rakim, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Slick Rick, and The Notorious B.I.G. Claiming to have fashioned her career after Madonna and referring to herself as the "Black Madonna," Lil' Kim also mentioned Madonna as an influence.
