Leif Vollebekk is a Canadian indie-folk singer and songwriter. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario. His notable album entitled Twin Solitude was released in 2017. The album brought him major recognition in the industry after being shortlisted finalist for the 2017 Polaris Music Prize and the 2018 Juno Award for the Adult Alternative Album of the Year category. Vollebekk is of mixed French and Norwegian descent. He started learning to play guitar, piano, and violin in his childhood. Vollebekk also spent some of his time in Iceland, where he stayed for an educational exchange. After completing his graduation, he moved to Montreal to pursue his music career.
In 2010, Vollebekk released his debut album entitled, Inland through Nevado Records. Some of the songs included in the album were those he had written during his trip to Iceland. In 2019, he released another album, North Americana, through Outside Music in 2013. In 2017, Vollebekk signed a record deal with Secret City Records and released his well-recognized album, Twin Solitude. In 2019, he released another album entitled New Ways, through Secret City Records once again. He promoted all three albums by extensive touring across Europe and North America.
