Larkin Poe Information
Larkin Poe is an American roots rock band that originated from north Georgia, but currently, it is working from Nashville, Tennessee. The band is fronted by sisters Megan Lovell (born May 12, 1989) and Rebecca Lovell (born January 30, 1991). The music of the group is defined as blues-rock, roots rock, soul-rock, folk-rock, Americana, and psychedelic folk. The other two members other than the sisters are Tarka Layman on electric bass and Kevin McGowan on drums. The sisters of Larkin Poe are often touted as "the little sisters of the Allman Brothers."
The two sisters began their musical careers in 2005 when they were only teenagers. The formed the bluegrass/Americana group, the Lovell Sisters, that got disbanded in December 2009. The two sisters, rejoined and founded Larkin Poe in 2010. The name of the band was the name f the sisters' great-great-great-grandfather.
Larkin Poe self-released five independent EPs, a live performance DVD, and two collaboration albums. The EPs are Spring EP (2010), Summer EP (2010), Thick as Thieves EP (2011), Fall EP (2010), Winter EP (2010), and collaboration with Thom Hell (2013) entitled The Sound of the Ocean Sound and Killing Time EP collaboration with Blair Dunlop (2013).
Some of the notable studio albums by the band are Kin (2014), Reskinned (2016), Peach (2017), Venom & Faith (2018), and Self Made Man (2020). Band for All Seasons (2010) is a box set, whereas Thick as Thieves special edition - Live from Stongfjordenn (2012) is the only DVD.
Larkin Poe performed as part of the backing band at the MusiCares tribute to Tom Petty in February 2017 (Los Angeles). The band also performed at the Glastonbury Festival.
