La Luz Information
La Luz is an American rock band. The current lineup of the group consists of Lena Simon (bass and backing vocals), Alice Sandahl (keyboard and backing vocals), and Shana Cleveland (guitar and lead vocals). The band was founded in 2012 by Abbey Blackwell, Shana Cleveland, Alice Sandahl, and Marian Li Pino. La Luz is best-known for its “surf noir” musical style. The band released its debut EP in 2012 entitled Damp Face. The band signed with Hardly Art after the release of the EP.
In October 2013, La Luz released its debut full-length album entitled, It’s Alive. Blackwell, who was a bassist and the founding member of the band, left La Luz in February 2014. The band then released its second studio album, Weirdo Shrine, produced by Ty Segall, on August 7, 2015. It received positive acclaim in The Guardian, The New York Times, and Pitchfork. The band also went on an international tour to support the release of their album.
Other albums released by La Luz include Floating Features (2018), Live from the Black Hole (2021), and La Luz (2021). The band’s notable singles are “Cicada,” “Clear Night Sky,” “Believe My Eyes,” “Call Me in the Day,” and “I’ll Be True.”
