KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas Information
The KROQ-FM radio station in Los Angeles hosts the annual Almost Acoustic Christmas performance. Like others like the Weenie Roast, LA Invasion, and Epicenter, this festival is put on by the KROQ radio station to generate funds for a good cause. The music played at the festival ranges from alternative and indie rock to punk, pop, dance, and hard rock/heavy metal.
The show returned to the Shrine Auditorium in December 2013 following the Universal Amphitheatre's September 2013 closure. The 2014 edition occurred at Inglewood's Kia Forum, formerly The Forum. The Kia Forum was the event site in 2022, after moving from the Honda Center in Anaheim in 2019. Several local nonprofits, including Para Los Ninos and the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, receive funding from KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas concerts. A live album called The Best of KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas was published in 1999.
The Al Wooten Heritage Center and Para Los Ninos were the beneficiaries of the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas 2009 compilation album, published on December 18, 2009, by KROQ-FM. The pandemic prevented the 2020 and 2021 KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas events. December 10, 2022, was the return of KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas to the Kia Forum.
