Koo Koo Kanga Roo is a comedy disco group from the United States. Koo Koo Kanga Roo is best known for its energetic live shows and engaging audience members, which have become more synonymous with the band's identity than the band's studio albums. Since Bryan and Neil are the sole members of Koo Koo Kanga Roo, they use pre-recorded background tracks that they play from their iPods through the venue's PA system whenever they perform live.
Bryan and Neil invented Koo Koo Kanga Roo while living in the same Saint Mary's University of Minnesota dorm. The two became fast friends after discovering they shared a love of music; they studied in London and traveled Europe as a backpacking duo before deciding to form a band.
Koo Koo Kanga Roo has been described as "the pinnacle of the love them or hates them musical act" by the Dallas Observer due to the controversial response they receive from punk and rock fans when they perform in front of adult audiences on tour. Koo Koo Kanga Roo was the opening act for a North American tour by popular folk-punk singers Frank Turner and The Smith Street Band in the fall of 2013. The tour brought the duo in front of enormous audiences who were often hostile to them because of their out-of-place appearance.
